Private Tuition Packages

Freelance Dance offers private tuition in a full range of dance styles. Whether you are rehearsing for the first wedding dance, developing confidence or skills before attending one of our weekly classes or wanting to prepare for an audition for college, University or dance school we are able to help. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and receive a quote. Prices start from just £40 per hour.


Ballet Bod

Ballet targets the smaller muscles you don’t often use

It’s all the craze in the USA and now you can get your body ready with the total body workout that defines and tones the body, giving you a long lean, supple ‘dancer’ look.

It combines elements of Pilates, Dance and resistance training and focuses on Barre exercises, you don’t need to be a trained dancer or have any experience- this class pushes your individual limits and you can work to your own pace.

Participants will need a yoga/pilates mat. Please wear comfortable clothing, preferably leggings so i can check alignment, bare feet or socks.

This is a 45 min class and costs £36 for 6 weeks

A new dawn in toning and relaxation taking influence from yoga, pilates and dance. A complete mind-body workout which improves balance, aerobic fitness, co-ordination and muscle tone. Suitable for all levels, Chillates features a ‘Wake Up’ section to warm up the body, ‘Salute & Strengthen’ developing strength and tone in the large muscles of the lower body, ‘Core Strength & Flex’ working the smaller muscles of the upper/lower body and abdomen and ‘Standing Yoga & Dance’ improving strength and tone for the entire body. This is a new course starting at Freelance Dance Studios, and the introductory price is £27 for 4 weeks(morning course)/ £36 for 6 weeks (evening course). Please note participants will require a Pilates/Yoga mat. These can be purchased from any good sports shop or department store.

A high impact aerobic workout full of a wide range of different Ballroom styles and techniques! A fantastic way to keep fit and learn ballroom steps with a twist at the same time! You will learn, salsa, tango, jive, lindy hop, waltz, fox trot….. the list goes on… 1 hour class

Dance Fit

Dance Fit is all about the dancing.

This is a cardio focussed class which utilises several short routines each week incorporating different music, moves and styles!

Simple Choreography (no co-ordination necessary!), to get you moving around, having fun and of course sweating and burning calories! 1 hour class

Body Sculpt

Callanetics Exercises can work for every body. By isolating muscle groups and using tiny, precise (yet powerful) movements, Callanetics exercises tighten and reshape your body while increasing strength, flexibility and body alignment. 1 hour class

Adult Tap

Tap dance is a form of dance characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Two major variations on tap dance exist: rhythm tap and Broadway tap. Broadway tap focuses on dance; it is widely performed in musical theatre. Rhythm tap focuses on musicality. We will be covering al these basics and MORE!

Belly Dancing

This form of dance is effective for improving posture and muscle tone; relieving joint and back pain; increasing bone density; helping weight loss; preparing for child birth; lowering stress levels; boosting self-esteem and can help in relieving PMS. Our style of Belly Dance uses all the muscles in the body in a really enjoyable way. What is of particular significance is the way all the smaller underlying muscles get used. The problem with conventional muscle training regimes is that they tend to focus on only the large really obvious muscle groups and you can develop a “hard” muscular look. Belly Dance aims to use all the muscles more evenly so you can develop a nice overall tone. The likes of Kylie, Shakira and Beyonce swear by it!

An amazing new course which lets the inner showgirl in you come to life! You will learn an array of different cabaret and showgirl routines, this is a fabulously fun way to keep fit and have a giggle. Feathers, chairs and  few other props may make an appearance! Dirty Dancing

Work out to your favourite dirty dancing tracks and have the time of your life doing it! The specially choreographed class covers all the classic tracks from the Dirty Dancing film. this class is suitable for all levels and as well as a great cardiovascular workout you get to learn some hot techniques. This is not a couples dance class as it’s choreographed for individuals. The course runs for 6 weeks and costs £36. 1 hour class.

Pole Dancing

This course runs for 6 weeks and costs £60.  Taught by experienced instructors, our classes are for fitness, to help you build up yourself confidence and feel more sexy in the process; we aren’t teaching you how to take on a new career. We focus on the fun, fitness side of pole dancing, and that’s why our classes are the most popular pole dancing classes in the North East. 1hr class (18yrs +) Please wear shorts or something that you can roll up as you’ll need grip on the pole. NO body lotion or moisturiser to be applied before the class.

Classical Ballet for Beginners

This class is perfect for beginners (18yrs +) who have never tried ballet before and also for those of you who danced many years ago as a child who wish to get back into it!

The class teaches the basics of ballet, working on technique, basic postures and exercises whilst improving core stability, tone, grace, co-ordination and technique as well and pushing flexibility. 1 hour class

Burlesque Technique & Flexibility and Splits Course with Kristi

6 week course £35, 12 week courses £65. A £10 deposit is needed to secure your place… Love the art of burlesque? Want to dance like a burlesque dancer? Then Burlesque Technique lessons are for you! Learn the beauty and the techniques of burlesque and create your own persona. Lessons will concentrate on a different part of the tease each week from how to position your body to how to remove stockings and other garments effortlessly. Every lesson a short routine will be learned to enhance the burlesque training, all this will equip you for the final lessons which will be an incorporation of all training to one big routine that can be taken away and performed at your hearts content. 1 hour session (18yrs +)

Flexibility and Split course – This course is designed to increase your flexibility using safe controlled techniques. This is a 6 week course £35. A £10 deposit is needed to secure your place.

Restorative Yoga with Sis

Using props such as bolsters, cushions and blankets to support the body and promote deep rest, restorative yoga aims to combat chronic stress and fatigue through stimulating the body’s own relaxation response and natural healing processes.  By holding supported postures for longer and working mindfully with the breath to slow down and release tension, this class is aimed at anyone feeling overloaded, weakened or fatigued by the stresses of daily life – or just wanting to take time out of a busy week to nourish the mind and body with a gentle, rejuvenating practice. No experience is necessary, and all props will be provided.

Please note numbers for this class are restricted to a maximum of six to make sure everyone gets plenty of support getting comfortable in the postures, a place can only be guaranteed by booking a full course, however spaces are available most weeks, so do enquire if you cannot commit to a full course but would like to come on a certain date or dates! cost – between £10 – £12 per session, or block booking discounts available.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra sometimes known as “yogic sleep” or “sleep with awareness” is a deep relaxation practice in which you will be guided into a state of profound physical and mental relaxation. Benefits include relaxation of the heart, skeletal muscles, and nervous system, reduction of stress and stress-related diseases, and deep conscious rest that reduces the need for sleep. No previous experience is needed for this practice. £8 per class.

Hatha Yoga with Melissa

Hatha Yoga is a discipline that unites the body with the mind. Gentle stretches and breathing exercises help to release tension and unwind. Each session ends with a period of complete relaxations. These sessions are suitable for all. Please bring a blanket/jumper for the relaxation.

Face Yoga

Face Yoga class. We hold loads of tension in our faces (hands up all you teeth grinders!) and I have lots of lovely exercises/activities that can help people recognise that tension and hopefully help release it. These will be seated sessions, and in addition to facial exercises there will also be acupressure, self-massage, sound therapy, meditation, laughter and even elements of Indian dance!  Sessions will be held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Saturdays of the month.  Cost £6 drop in fee.

Vinyasa Flow and Restore

Steph is a yoga instructor and doctor living and working in Newcastle having completed her yoga teacher training in her home city of Portland, Oregon. Steph’s love of yoga comes from a joy of being fully engaged in what she is doing both physically and mentally, and believes this can be extended in to every aspect of life. These classes are playful and energising, allowing beginners to advanced yogis alike to explore mindful movement using each breath to find energy and stillness. Happy Circuits

Happy Circuits is a new full-body workout designed to have you smiling as you leave, even if you’re aching (in a good way) the next day – no shouty bootcamp here!

Open to all levels of fitness, each exercise can be made harder or easier depending on the individual needs of the participants, plus Katharine is always keen to incorporate new exercises so you’ll never do the same workout twice.

Katharine is a Level 3 qualified personal trainer, so I keep a very close eye on all participants, helping with exercises where needed and demonstrating each one beforehand.

Musicella (6 months – Pre School)

A NEW music group for parents/care givers  & babies/ toddlers …..

Sessions consist of 40 minutes of interactive traditional songs & action rhymes, dance & percussion instruments including drums!

A child’s musical life should start young. The combination of sound & physical contact at this age is fundamental.

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form which combines martial art, rhythm, sport, music and philosophy to create a unique game between two players. Anyone can join in and anyone is welcome. Capoeira is a fantastic form of physical activity that will improve your fitness, coordination, balance, strength and agility, whatever your level of fitness. At the same time, you can enjoy the social, artistic, musical and cultural elements of Capoeira and even pick up some Portuguese! All you need for the class is tracksuit trousers and a tee-shirt (and bare feet). 1 hour class
